“NEIGHBOURHOOD ROCHDALE” CITY CENTRE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT PLANS READIED BY CAPITAL & CENTRIC

Central Retail Park, close by to Rochdale railway station, is set to undergo a huge transformation as 200 homes are planned by Capital & Centric.

This is a part of Rochdale Council’s £400m regeneration project designed to boost the housing availability in the town centre by building a total of 7000 homes around Rochdale’s 5 railway stations.

The development project is set to include a range of living facilities including both high and low rise housing, consisting of apartments too. This is to maximise living space within the properties while maintaining the potential for high density residency.

In a bid to ensure high quality living situation, the development is also set to include leisure orientated buildings too, including sports and fitness facilities, eateries and café-bars.

The 4.7-acre plot of land had a planning application that had hoped to be delivered this year, however with global affairs now leaves that sat in early 2021, with construction hoped to commence soon after.

Director and senior architectural designer Chris Lawson of CK Architectural stated: “Manchester has led the way in recent when it comes to brown field and urban architecture & development. It’s good to see another positive push in improving old industrial sites to good quality homes.”

When asked about any hesitations, he said: “Our only concern would be giving up sites that could potentially generate jobs and commerce in the greater Manchester area.”
